INVISALIGN
Invisalign is a treatment plan that moves teeth to more aesthetic and efficient positions with the use of clear, plastic sets of trays. Invisalign comes from two words: invisible and aligner. The treatment Invisalign involves a 3D planning software that analyzes teeth malocclusions and moves the teeth virtually through time on a rendering that designs and eventually straightens and improves occlusion. It was once thought of as a merely cosmetic option for people in need of tooth straightening who wanted to avoid metal braces and wires in their mouths. In past years it has evolved tremendously to address more complicated situations while keeping the patient away from metal hardware.
In 2025, Dr. Marion began using the iTero Lumina scanner. This six lens scanner is the most accurate on the market creating high quality intraoral scans. Its cutting edge software delivers treatment plans in 1-2 days getting patients on the road to a great smile almost immediately.
In order to consider Invisalign, Dr. Marion first does a 3D scan of your mouth and surrounding tissues. He also takes digital x-rays and digital photo images of the patient. Together, the three types of records are sent to Align technologies laboratory and then Dr. Marion will meet with you to go over the treatment plan.
As you know from other topics on this website, Dr. Marion is precise. Whereas many dentists grind significantly on adjacent teeth to make space, Dr. Marion works with the lab to formulate a plan that minimizes or altogether eliminates such a need to grind on good teeth.
Most treatment plans are 15 to 40 weeks long during which you are given tray-sets, upper and lower, to use 20 out of 24 hours a day, only removing them for eating and teeth cleaning. Upon completion of a treatment plan, all patients can make a choice to select the best 3D printed retainers that work for them. Some get stronger Invisalign trays for retention while others get a spacial customized night guard for better tooth protection. Upon plan completion some patients may select to Power Bleach their teeth or veneer or crown teeth now that they are in better positions to do so.
